some options that i'm aware of is that you can install security camera that is hooked up to your computer or digital recorder.
They sell security camera at frys or you can get home security stores.
Infrared is good option for night time recording.

for night time just make sure your cams have good low to no light lenses.

dang, go into a meeting in the morning and come back to this. haha

if i could afford all the fancy smancy stuff i'd get it all but i just something basic and affordable that can cover the driveway/street area. i have motion detectors on the flood light already; i may install another set to cover a wider spread of the driveway.

the cops/city do know about the issue and is printed in the weekly newsletter about occurences. unfortunately they can't really do anything about it since there are so many neighborhoods and so little cops. just gets a little frustrating as it happens at least 1-2x a year.

But seriously what's the point? It still won't stop it from happening?

If a person wants to rob you, odds are they will.

although the Lazer Kitteh sounds good, I think moving to a better area might be best. Alarms won't prevent crooks from breaking into a house. Shoot, they use a truck to smash through store windows and steal s***.

a face and/or shot of the car license plate is all traceable and better a chance than just ignoring the situation and letting the it happen over n over again. if they want to rob the house/cars again then so be it, they just better hope i'm not around to actually catch them in the act. any way to deter future attempts is better than nothing right?

$$$$. the problem with cheap cameras are the clarity of picture and low light ability. and all-weather. then piecing a hard-disk based recording system isn't cheap either. u could get away with a 4-cam system for under $1500 maybe...

at my work, we've had trailers, cars, equipment stolen from our building. We have multiple security cameras outside as well as motion activated lights. We were recently robbed about a month ago. A truck drove up with no license plate on, cut the locks, drove in, took one of our trailers that had a car inside it. We showed it to the police, nada. Since the license plate can not be read, they will not be able to find the thief.

When I first came to LA and looked at parts of Torrance and Gardena, the first thing I noticed was the "ghetto" looking areas and the nice looking ones pretty much patched together making one city.. I guess the lesser elements of society like to roam down here.

I guess in your case it couldn't hurt, but if your house is getting broken into and vandalized that much, I'd seriously consider a move.

Until then whether you decide on a motion sensing alarm that alerts the police or a simple one that turns on a flood light.. here you go.

it's not occuring that often; last time of actual break (home) was 4yrs ago. however perimeter vandalism occurs about 1x a year, ranging from shoes being placed on the cars to actual egging and now ice creaming.
