Question help with painting

ok i have 2 options to paint my front lip

1 - use my compressor and craftsman spray gun to paint the lip. but i dont know where to get the paint from but i will take the fog light cover off to color match.
its somewhat simple you primer then 2 coats of paint then clearcoat for a nice depthy finish. and maybe some light sanding.
i have tried to color match at home depot/paint stores but they only have house paint.

2 - find a good descently priced auto shop to paint and color match it for me. anyone know of a good one around orange county ish. im in mission viejo/irvine ish area.

if anyone has something that could help let me know.
thanks in advance.
andrew

edit. btw its a polyurethane lip

Listen to to datwrx, he kinda knows what he is talking about, but honestly, just take it to any respectable auto body shop, if you wanna cut corners you could get the paint yourself and maybe prime it yourself, but they really shouldn't charge you that much money just to paint a front lip. But definitely sand it!!! Whenever you paint something always sand it first, paint needs something to bite to, the only thing in life you don't need to sand before you paint is the walls in your house. After you get it clear coated, there may be some "orange peel", so you will have to buff the crap out of it until it looks like a sheet of glass, have fun!!!

i have recently went to a auto paint store.
i purchased the urethane reducer, color code paint and polyurethane clearcoat. also i got this spray can of stuff that makes paint stick to plastic but the lip is polyurethane so it should work well. i have scotch brite at home to scuff up the lip a little to make it stick better.

im not really trying to cut corners at all. im trying to learn and experience getting an automotive finish. i do fiberglass work all the time with sub enclosures and gauge pods. im just not that experienced with paint so im trying to learn

thanks guys for your input

so far i got these instructions
1. scuff up the lip w/ scotch brite
2. wipe down with urethane reducer
3. scuff and wipe down again
4. go over it with 2 coats of the adhesion chemical
5. 3-4 coats of paint 15 mins apart
6. 2-3 coats of polyurethane clear coat
7. 2 days later wet sand the clear coat

anything for the knowledgeable ones to add?
