Group Side Skirt Painting. Any Subie, Any color

Group Side Skirt Painting. Any Subie, Any color

He will do ANY SUBARU SKIRTS, ANY COLOR! $35 EACH.
Tell all your friends!

The meeting date at the shop is July 12th, 11am.
If you can't make it on this date, you can drop them
off earlier during the week.

If you want on the list, email me at mattjk@mail.com
with the subject "SIDE SKIRT PAINTING". In the message
body, please list your name, location, model car, and color.
Also include your color code which is under your hood.

The list of participants will be at:
http://www.cableplexaudio.com/wrx/painting.html

He will also paint other parts so bring them in for an
estimate. Side Skirts will be painted first, and then
other parts when the skirts are done. I don't know
how much he'll charge for other parts...

You'll need to remove the skirts from the car, clean them
of all dirt, oil, gaskets and mounting clips.

Shop address:
J M Auto Works
7819 Sepulveda Blvd.
Van Nuys, CA 91405

P.S. He used factory paint last time, my skirts are holding up well
and still look like new.

He used 4 coats of each on mine (primer, paint, clear)

If you've seen the pre-painted ones sold at dealers, they
are not perfectly glossy, they still show a bit of the "grain"
that the black unpainted skirts show, these will show as well.

***IF you want yours to be perfectly glossy, I would recommend
you do some prepping (Use fine grit sand paper and get rid
of the rough surface before dropping off), and I would recommend
some polishing/buffing after they are painted.

PLEASE BE AWARE, the cost is $35 EACH, SO DON'T EXPECT
MIRACLES!!!. If you want PERFECT, I suggest you take it to
PJ's and spend over $200.

Turn around time will be anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks,
depending on the amount of skirts.

==========================================

I did extra sanding/smoothing/buffing on mine:

thanks for your post on nazioc!

I would recommend making it totally smooth... the shop will
make the paint stick. They'll ruffen it up enough for the primer
to adhere well.

I emailed you earlier today...but I don't see myself on you list.

Just wanted to make sure you got it...

Also, why did they ban you again?

Just to clarify, when you say to remove the "gaskets", you mean the rubber strip that runs along the top, correct? What did you use to re-attatch yours?

Thanks again!
Yes, you need to remove the black gasket as well.

If you take it off carefully (leave it in the hot sun for a while) the
adhesive should come off cleanly, attached to the gasket. If you
pull it off cleanly, it should stick back on just fine.

You'll need to remove them, they will not take well to painting and
will crack as soon as you re-install the skirts.

Hey Lev,

I noticed that you are on the list to get your skirts painted. You re-doing the ones you had done last year? Anything happen to them? I am trying to get on this group painting, but I haven't heard from anyone yet. Let me know what you think about the paint job that you got last time and how it held up over the last few months.

thanks,
marvin (rapid roo)
