California Vacation
Kay guys, it's getting close to that time again. Will be coming out for the family Disneyland thing. My primary target will be the Super Autobacs in Stanton. It's been open for a while now, how is that store? Will also appreciate any info on any other shops in the Orange County area. Mahalos!
Socal is a great place to visit, so much to do, so many places to go
but so far to get there...when are you coming and how much time will your family let you out and about?
Autobacs is another great place to visit but I don't think you want to buy anything there. They do have some "Super" sales but not often. They also have some things you will not see anywhere else on this side of the Pacific Ocean. It is worth going to see just for the experience.
Other things to see and do depends on when you are coming and ...oh yeh, I already said that.

I do know that the 22 of March is the "Subaru Shootout" at a racetrack 2 hours from LA and the International Auto Salon is the week after
I will look some more and get back to you.

I, more than anyone I know, hate to rain on anyones parade, but Super Autobacs has to be the single most disapointing thing ever. I mean you should for sure go ... Just don't get your hopes up - I have gone twice with big monies in my pocket to burn, and ended up leaving with a roll of electrical tape the one time, completely empty handed the next. Seriously, I can find more "stuff" that I am interested in buying in a Pep Boys rather than Super Autobacs. Sorry, thats just IMO.
As far as what to do while you are here ... Let's see ... What would I want to do if I didnt live here... Well in the OC there is a pretty decent size community of cool subaru people, and there is generally always some sort of event going on, so check those out when you have some free time for sure. Call me impartial (becuase I know I am) but I myself would want to hook up with a group and head up to Arrowhead or something for some "twisties" action. There is nothing better than a nice, technical "sprint" up the mountains by the lake. It's breath taking, really. Hell, If you want to and are free, let me know... I will grab some people and take ya up there!
Well whatever you decide to do, have fun!!

Thanks for the info sofar. I guess I will go and check out the Super Autobacs, and I'll not keep my hopes that high. Hey Neaners, where is Arrowhead? God knows I love the "twisties". My itinerary has not been set yet, but I will keep the offer in mind. Where do most of you OC Scooby owners go for your parts and installations. And oh, one more thing, does Greddy in Irvine opens its doors to the public? I'd really like to visit them.

Hey Neaners,
Looks like an awesome run. Don't know if my family would appreciate me leaving them to do a run in the San Bernadino area though. Thanks for the invite though. I noticed on a similar thread, a place calle Aerosim is mentioned. Need more info, what kind of stuff do they carry?
Aloha!!

Aerosim is a "developer/fabricator" of CF parts for the RS (so far)...they have a great body kit coming. They are also only a short distance from South Coast Subaru, home to the best Dealer Organized Event I have ever seen. You can see pictures of their test driven STi:-(

That arrowhead drive looks like the one mentioned on Weather.com. I wanted to take that route but at the time it was the brush fire hell going on. But now, spring is coming... plus the 215/30 is only about 15 minutes away...
::: It's about an 80 miles trek or something, right?

Sorry, I should've been clearer on what I said. I meant the route itself is about 80 miles or so.

Kay, I'm back. The vacation was great! Superautobacs was like a big toy store. The products were kinda pricey though. Being that I was on vacation and could not buy any parts, I was looking for small items (shirts, stickers, etc.) man, there were alot of STi, Eifel, Prova doodads, but I could not justify the cost. I did buy a cheap replacement helmet though, but I had to call my friend on Maui (SCCA prez) to find out if the helmet met minimum SCCA requirements, as none of the employees knew if it would pass. They tried to lead me to the SPARCO helmets, but starting at $500, it was just way to expensive. I did like looking at the cars in the parking lot though.
Ferdie at South Coast Subaru...you da man! Thanks for the hospitality while I was there. I wish I could have spent some money at your place, you can bet I'll come there first next year (before I blew my money on my other vices...autoart cars and DVDs). And oh yeah, your car is AWESOME!!
Jimmy (Island Motorsports), your car is tyte! There is something so right with bulging fenders on a wagon. See you next year at your new location!
ALOHA to all
