Thought I'd help keep it real....er...grounded.
I have Sun Auto kit... "with HOT WIRES" (not like hot pants, sadly). The JDM kits, it should be noted, have placement grounds for the SPEC-C... so consequently,t here might be grounds that don't make any sense (eg: one to the plastic cover thing on the engine near the A/C... because the spec-c doesn't have an a/c).
There is definitely a difference, although I could swear i though it was slower/more sluggish at certain rpm... possibly it was that the rest of the band (or the band right around those points) were bumped up, making that point feel like a drop. Whatever... removing the air intake silencer made everything better (go figure).
BUT.... if you have the STi.... or possibly even the newer WRXs... you DONUT need a ground kit. The STi's already have one incorporated. It's been noted that there are pretty much only two important grounds to make... the rest are questionable. The points are already grounded on the STi, and I believe many of the newer models (legacy i think at least?).
I don't know that double grounding would accomplish anything, but hopefully this helps.....
