I know I sound like an a** backwards newbie. I am not. This is not my first WRX. I also had an '02 that I absolutely loved, which is why I came back a few cars later to the WReX.
There is just so much misinformation out there and I really want to know if there is a problem with my car, the gauge, or if all is well.
Thanks in advance, and for not flaming, as I have found elsewhere...
Nevermind, looks like I got my answer here:

and do the stage 1 or 2 increase the boost?
Boost targets for the stock 2006 WRX MT peak at ~11.79psi by 3600 RPM then drop down to ~8psi by redline.
The Stage1 for Cobb Tuning targets around ~13.5psi then tapers down to ~9psi by redline.
The Stage2 for Cobb Tuning targets around ~15psi then tapers down to ~11psi by redline.
FYI, maps notes for the 2006 WRX MT can be found here = http://www.cobbtuning.com/wrx/accessport/25index.html

Right or wrong, I trust what Cobb says, as it is how they all make their living. So, max boost targets for a stock WRX MT are 11.79 PSI or .081 MPa on the stock boost gauge, which is right in the range I am seeing on my gauge (within .002 or so MPa, which I can live with as the stock gauge isn't the best. All is well. Now, I just need to get going on the power mods (after suspension and tires)...
Again, thanks for the help and for not roasting the noob. This is a pretty cool board. Think I will stay as it is much more manageable and has better local info than the one that starts with N...

roger. That is why I was saying 3rd or 4th. Prolly should've asked for "boost target" as my question could have been read as, "What is the maximum pie in the sky boost I can get from my WRX?" Still learning the correct lingo...

If I remember correctly from browsing Cobb's site, they use third gear for their pulls and testing. I could be wrong though.
If I understand the term correctly, a boost target is the max pressure that they shoot for consistently, theoretically a maximum allowed by the ECU, if you will. I understand that the car may not be hitting that target in first or second gear as the motor blows through the rev band to quickly to allow max boost to build.
A 13.5 target will be nice, and it only goes up from there for stages 2 and 2.5 (or 3, whatever they call it. Now where did I put that VF39 and STI TMIC?

the boost can over shoot the target and the computer tries to balance it out
