Can a USDM WRX shortblock handle JDM STI power?
I've got a blown Ver 6 JDM STI engine in my GC8. I'm trying to get it running but am low on funds. I found a USDM WRX EJ20 shortblock, but am sure it can't hold the added boost and power from the STI engine. Has anyone tried this setup? I'm wondering how long it would last, and what the compression would be. I'm not looking to drag for pinks, just get the thing going. HELP!!!! Anyone???

I'm sure that the new EJ20 can hold the power but once you start pumping up the boost, remember that the USDM Ej20s are open-deck not closed or semi-closed and tend to be weaker. I'm not sure what the compression for the Version 6 but the USDM motor should be lower, thus having less wear on the motor.
