Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Question STI exhaust on WRX Wagon w/ cobb accessport make sense??

1) Would a STI exhaust be a significant upgrade to my WRX Wagon
2) Would it fit on my factory hangers.
3) If installed, could I run Cobb Accessport stage II map?
4) Would this be comparable to say a Borla Hush and high flow cat?

The reason I ask is that I'd like to have the stock look to keep wife/fuzz off my back but I'd like to go stage II because I just ordered my accessport monday....muahahahaha!!! I figure I could get a used STI TBE for cheap.

1. The STi Exhaust from the Dealer is pure cr*p it only looks good and it's only an axle back no gains only sound. Yes you might be buying a STi TBE, but you're just getting your WRX exhaust with the fancy smancy muffler that does nothing.

2. Yes it would fit on your factory hangers

3. No you could not run stage 2, you have to have a full turbo back exhuast (no cats or cobbs high flow cat)

4. This is not comparable to a Borla Hush.

I hope this helps bro.

It sounds like you were asking about the entire exhaust off of a USDM STi and not the STi muffler/axle-back that dealers sell to WRX owners.

If, indeed, you are asking about the full exhaust, there is no point in putting it on the WRX. The downpipe and thrid cat section are exactly the same as the WRX. Only the muffler is different, and is only marginally, if any, better than the WRX muffler. Both are restrictive and HEAVY.

yeah I have the STi axle back on my wagon and it only looks nice. Thats about it. I have the STi uppipe wich is catless wich probably helps and the STi top mount and STi Turbo too. Thats about it for STi stuff. Laters Mikal
