200whp?

Who thinks this will get me near 200 whp?

Cobb stage 1 reflash
Samco intercooler hoses
Borla Hush Catback
Hacked silencer

I feel like that's gonna put me somewhere around 190... I want to remain as warranty friendly as I can you see. I am gonna get black intercooler hoses (less obvious) and Accessport so I can flash back to stock whenever I want... Any other ideas that will pick me up 10hp? If I find a mod-friendly dealer I will def. do an up pipe and that will put me at 200 (and spool faster) but I was wondering if there was another way to pick up some more power and remain relatively warranty safe. Think a subaru tech would notice this?

I think that would get me there... Anyway what do you guys think?

A friend of mine has a an ECUTek reflash (with road tuning performed by a local shop), up-pipe and intercooler hoses. He's putting 206 to the wheels.

if you plan on trying to fool your dealer why not just go ahead and buy a bigger turbo(and keep your stock one just in case). i know of some dealers have to take pictures of their work to be done(depending on how severe) in order to be reimbursed fpr warranty work.

ya, but with bigger turbo, you need bigger injectors, new fuel pump, it gets costly just to get over 200WHP

Thanks for the reply guys. As for the stealth back, I was trying to avoid doing that at the moment. Like I said if I find a mod-friendly dealer I will mess with the cats and free up the exhaust... I think I will be close to 200whp without that anyway, which is my "under-warranty power goal." When the warranty runs out I'll do an upipe and downpipe. I figure it stacks up like this:

Stock hp (around 160ish)

so
Cobb Stage 1 Reflash: 20-25hp
catback + intercooler hoses + silencer removal: At least 10hp.

so that's 190-195 and basically the only thing that isn't warranty friendly that I can't remove with the touch of a button is the intercooler hoses. But if I get black ones they will be pretty hard to notice so I'm not really worried about them... If I get that 3rd cat eliminator I will def. bump up over 200, I just wonder if anyone will notice it. Honestly if it is mated to the stock downpipe it will look pretty legit. Plus it should take like 10 mins to take off anyway if I need to! You know what, I think I'm gonna go with that. Think that'll be fairly warranty kosher? So this will be my setup:

Cobb stage 1 reflash
Samco intercooler hoses
Borla Hush Catback
Hacked silencer
MadDad 3rd Cat eliminator

That should keep me satisfied for a while. Like a week or so, maybe! What you guys think?

Oh as for the bigger turbo. Not really into that. I don't want more lag. I'm more looking for increased driveability and nicer looking torque curve. That's why I'm looking forward to AccessPort! Interesting idea though, I wonder if they would notice it.

Please don't let this thread die young. With just a few words commenting on this setup, the third cat eliminator, any little thing, YOU could keep it alive. Don't be so cold and selfish, have a heart, save this thread froman untimely death.

Oh yeah, BUMP!

I think you pretty much have everything that's warranty friendly. You could maybe do a grounding kit.

Bigger risk but still relatively friendly is, and I can't believe no one's mentioned this, the gutted OEM up pipe. Cheap and stealth. If anyone has a gutted up pipe, chime in on how much louder it is. I'd like to know for myself anyway...

Get the Daddy's SCP thirc cat eliminator, it has a heat sheild that makes it look like the stock cat is there. MUCH less noticeable.

You could also gut your factory up pipe and down pipe, that will put you over 200whp and will be un noticeable.

Yeah, they won't notice it until they START YOUR CAR to drive it into the garage! The gutted pipes sound very different, and definitely smells different (a much "rawer" fuel-like smell to the exhaust)...

I've talked to my dealer about changing out my intercooler and radiator hoses and getting a larger STI hoodscoop and splitter, and they said none of that would affect the engine warranty unless something I specifically installed failed. To void your engine warranty you have to do something more aggressive, such as changing out injectors, cams, pulley, etc. The dealer also said that all exhaust mods BUT a catback would void the drivetrain warranty -- and if you think a Subaru mechanic with anything more than 1 year under his belt can't spot a messed-with exhaust system, you're nuts.

Sorry to rain on your parade.. but the silencer mod isn't warranty friendly..

I had a buddy who drove his car cross country to AZ a few months ago.. whilst out there his car started to smoke a little.. for no reason at all (smoke was coming from the passenger side front wheel well).

He brought it to the dealer, dealer checked it out; the up-pipe cat was loose and breaking up and begining to send chunks into the turbo. All he had done was the silencer removal. His dealer called SOA to ask if any warranty work was done to the car.. one thing led to another, and his dealer told soa the only mod was that no intake silencer was there. Soa denied the warranty. NOT the dealer. He called SOA and they said that they would/will not warranty his problem.

Just my .02 .. hell i have the 'mod' done.. but all I can say for my buddy is.. "sucks to be you, dude".

200 whp

catless uppipe and catless turbo back, boost at 16 psi, short ram air intake. Will get you 203whp & 209wtq. Thats what mine ran with this set up, not bad? if you need to take it in for warranty just put the stock turbo back, back on. I wouldn't let those dealer mechanics touch my stuff anyways, your better off taking care of it yourshelf. Most dealer mechanics aren't much better than you anyways. good luck Thomas
