Angry 2004 WRX "Check Engine"

just got my car about 3 months ago and its got 6500 miles. the other nihgt while i ws driving the check engine light came on. i was kinda worried and baffeled at the same time. well what i did i know was probably the wrong thing to do, but oh well. i put in second gear from like 25 and floored it. at 5000 the engine looses a butt load of power, but keeps accelerating. at about 5500 it sounds like i am getting ready to throw a rod. just a constant knocking and it was loud too. so i let off not knowing what is wrong. the next morning i went to my local subaru dealer to have it checked out. wow green valley subaru doesn't care about their costomers at all. he set me up for an appointment on nov 4. well the reason i made this post is too see if anyone has had this problem or might know what it is. i always use premium gas and have had my oil changed every 2500 miles. well if you got any info let me know.

thanks
Giligan

could be anything from a loose gas cap, a blown 02 sensor, to a blown engine... dont know until the code gets read.

wow...that's crazy...sounds like bunk gas...let us know what happens.

My 04 jumps...it's odd but I don't know what it is yet....when I accelerate hard...not too hard but hard....getting on the freeway type stuff....it kinda..shoot man I don't even know how to explain it...it's not a consistant acceleration....like it bogging almost but where talking 4000rpm's here. I know it's not my gas cause I use nothing but chevron and 76....ever. supreme of course. I don't know if it's just how the turbo works or what...it feels like crap.

might be similar to what you're having that's why I am interested....not as bad as you though.

its funny how you say it jumps. before this happened my throttle response was terrible. just like yours. wow i hope you don't have the same problem.

ok but now the update. i now have a rental stupid pontiac sunfire. and the have to get a new head. i guess i had a couple bad valves, and misfireing in 3 of the cylinders. they say it is going to take like 2 weeks to get it back. what i don't understand is that it is going to take 5 days to get it back. oh well i guess i just have to wait. atleast the rental is on there bill. well i thought i would update we will see what happens next.

AH HELL I hope that's not my issue. I guess I'll just have to wait it out...see if it's me or the car and see if that's the problem.

I guess the good thing is that if my car goes down my dealership gives me a WRX replacement car.

kragen should scan your car for free, they have an OBDII. my check engine came on 3 times in 3 weeks (misfire cylinder 1) it hasnt been on since, so I just let it be.
