Hey guys, ! Couldnt find any threads on the best yet affordable suspension? Maybe im just not good navigating through this site. But what I have as far as I know since im new to the car is tein adjustable suspension. I can adjust it with in my car. Now .. my suspension seems to be squeeking.. so I was just wondering best suspension for ride comfort no bouncy yet good for performance(I drive rough) that womt break the bank. Keep in mind I dont mind spending 1300 aslong as I know why im spending so much. Im really comfortable with under 1000. Thanks guys!

$1300 is really the low-end of where quality suspension starts. If you don't need coilovers, look into a strut and spring combo, this would be better than a cheap coil over setup.

 

A strut and spring combo, like OEM. 04 STI shares mounting style with 02-07 wrx. Price-wise your best option is an OEM STI strut set re-valved by Odi at FEAL Suspension. It'll be ~$200 for a set of used/old STI struts, $500 for the revalve service, and if you choose to upgrade springs most new ones are ~$300. This setup should last roughly 50-70k miles, maybe less if you really abuse it hard.

The cheapest coilover that would match the ride quality will be ~$1500+ and they will require a rebuild (~$100 per corner +shipping and removal/reinstallation) on an annual basis.

 

You might want to have a look into the fortune 500 coilovers if you decide to go the coilover route. They offer alot for the price. Better than other coilovers in that lower price range.

If he never intends on tracking the car on a competitive basis coilovers are a bad investment.

You can get Feal revalved struts for $475. Replace the top hats and spring insulators while you have the stuff out.

 

"Best ride comfort" is almost negligible for coilovers, I would say they would all be somewhat uncomfortable lol

 

This is so far from the truth. The stock suspension on GD STI's have horrible oscillation problems on certain stretches of roads. After installing my DMS coilovers, the car has no issues with those roads anymore. The only thing that make the ride harsh, is the stiff springs I went with, and that harshness only happens at really low speeds (like parking lots).

This isn't a budget coil over, but you get what you pay for.

 

I agree, I would expect nothing less from a quality company DMS considering that some of their coilovers can cost as much as 6k. But it would be hard to find a set new for less than 1300 that has as much adjustability and quality as a DMS set
