Steering wheel wobble..."light and bouncy" feel to steering...HELP!

Hello all,
I have an 03 WRX with Tanabe GF210s, stock struts, and 17x8.5" rims, approx 104k miles on the car. I have noticed that my steering wheel has a pretty annoying wobble at 70mph and falls off around 73+mph.....I think it is still there, just not nearly as noticable. I just had my tires rotated and balanced about a week ago thinking that was the cause....no go. I even changed out my brakes thinking MAYBE one of the pads were being pushed against the rotor due to the piston being messed up....no go. Im at a loss. I havent gotten my alignment done yet (only had the springs on a month or so and I need to double check the install because my NEWB experience may have gotten the best of me when putting the top hats back on the struts).

Also, I looked under the car and it appears that on the passenger side, my CV boot is torn and leaking (I believe it is the side closer to my tranny, but I need to double check). Im not sure if that is a factor to the steering "feel" also?

My issue is Im pretty short on money right now, and I know the CV boot is important, and so is an alignment, however I can only afford to do one. I want to do the MOST important one, and tackle the other on payday. Any help would be great as Im really at a loss.

Thank you all for being my life savers!

tons of things can cause this.. brakes/rotors. Wheel bearings, CV joint, wheels being off balance, slight bubble in tire/ inconsistent tire pressure in all tires.

can u take it to the dealership and see whats wrong? I think they'll tell u without charging you. I would go with the alignment first. Its cheaper and if you havent gotten one done in a while, it is most likely the problem.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but the issue is still around. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or not.....I have the front end of the car on jack stands so that the wheels can move freely. I moved the driver's side wheel and I can feel that it is connected and is moving the transmission....when I do the same on the passenger side, there is a "gap" before I feel it engaging in the tranny and moving the other tire. Like I can move the wheel from 12 o'clock position to 2 o'clock before anything feels like it engages....MUCH different than what happens on the driver's side wheel. The passenger side CV axle is brand new (maybe a few hundred miles on it). I'm not even sure where to begin to solve this. So I turned to I-club. Let me know what you think.....thanks!

um does the wheel wobble? if so could be bearing
You said cv boot is ripped did you check if the linkage still okay?
When you turn the wheel whats happening on the other side?

Better yet make a video! or bring it to a local subaru shops, or someone who can check it out in person

I had the same issue without the torn cv boot. My issue ended up being the wheel bearing.

Do you have aftermarket wheels? Are they the same hub bore as the stock subaru rotors?
