Question Whaddaya mean I have to change the oil?

Just kidding about the title guys, I'm well aware about the need of getting my oil changed religiously in a high performance car such as the WRX. My question is, what kind of oil works best? Any preferences? Any brands to stay away from? What's a good oil at reasonable cost?

Yeah but their also the ones that said our cars don't need a turbo timer and to just shut it off after running it (it'll be fine don't worry about it)

I started out with Mobil1 5w-30 dino untill 10k. Then used Mobil1 5w-30 synthetic untill the last oil change at 17k when I switched to Mobil1 0w-40 synthetic. I sound like a Mobil1 commercial

The 0w-40 quieted down the ticking sound I was experiencing at idle usually when cold. Idle sounds much smoother and healthier cold and hot. And BTW ignore the "European car formula" on the bottle

Thanks

I'm seeing a lot of support for Mobil 1. What about some of the other 100% synthetic brands like Redline, AMSoil, and Royal Purple?

I've been using Havoline Synthetic 10W-30 since 3,000 miles. I just don't think that Mobil 1 is worth the money. The Havoline has worked fine for me. I'm only changing every 5,000 miles.
