Hey guys. Im most likely moving down to the keys from Seattle around the end of the summer. i have a 2000 LGT. how do they do emissions over there? do they check your engine at all? i was going to do an STI swap before i went. but i dont know what all they check for down there.? can someone help out with that and let me know?

Emissions in the south are a complete joke. No where even close to what you guys on the west coast experience. My car hasn't had cats in years and I'm not the least bit concerned about it. The general rule is.........if you have doubts about passing..........befriend the emissions guy. Slip him a few bucks or something. I took mine out for a few drinks as he did all my work before. Don't even be concerned.

 

so do they pop the hood? or do a safety check? cuz there real easy up here in Seattle

 

No they don't pop the hood. They do get in, honk your horn, make sure your seatbelt works and make sure all your signals work properly. It's comical at best.

there are no emmisions test in south florida at all!!!
