intake for wrx

Hey guys i'm hearing an intake is bad for the WRX any truth in that? does it matter if its a CAI or short ram intake? let me know.

unless you're going to get a fmic that requires a short ram kit, stick with the stock airbox. with aftermarket intakes, you'll get flow inconsistencies due to maf misreadings and what results are unstable a/f ratios. i've seen this firsthand with the greddy airinx on my car when i went to have it dyno tuned. i could have made more reliable power off of the stock airbox cause i could have safely ran a leaner map. i still have the greddy in cause i'm about to install a r-spl fmic.

good and cheap intake mod:

higher flowing panel filter (ex. k&n) - $40 -$60
remove silencer
take out air scoop
replace hole with fender blocking plate (from OEM '99 impreza i believe)-$3.00
seal airbox to fender with foam weatherseal - $2 or $3

-looks great, faster spool up,and you can hear bypass valve and sucking sound from turbo!

I am in the process...

I'll post back in a day or two... My cars at the dealer getting the clutch fixed... soon as I get it back I'll be taking out the silencer and the snorkel and sealing things up. Apparently this is really common.

looks good! how much?

the only other one i've seen was made by prova i think and it is way too much because it comes with the carbon fiber air scoop.
