I am sick of hearing “why don’t you just save your money and buy a new car”

Look at what was left on my door step this afternoon.
I think I will name her sally

Now I just have to find out when they changed from aluminum intake manifolds to plastic, when they changed the wiring, and what else they changed between 00 and 04. What I am trying to do is build up the engine over winter and just drop it in when spring hits, but to do that I need to make sure the engine has the 00 compatible wiring. I think since I have to track down a new intake manifold any way, I will just upgrade to the WRX manifold, with bigger injectors right away (already have the smt6 to take care of the fiddly bits.

whoooo nelly
damn,
I am glad that I decided to tare down the block as apposed to just throwing pistons in it and calling it a day.
I dont know what happend but I think I know why I picked up a 1200 mile short block for $500. LOL
I think the crank can be saved, I can run a finger nail across the surface and only feel slight grabs, so I think it can be turned down. None of the barrings spun, mains or rod.

Well, I guess Im going to get my but down to the local builder and have them check things over before I go too far with this whole thing.

You just gave me a wicked idea.
Get a good shop to make up 2 adaptors that will connect the flexplate from one H4 to the crank pully of another... but line up 3 2.5l H4's. Maby in a long rail drag frame.
Tie them up to a T-56 6speed manual.....
Damn that would be wicked. Nice thing about it is the N/A exhaust manifolds already dump to the passingers side before the collectors, so making a custome 3 in collector would be a breeze.
Wow that would be evil, an H12.
ah well nuff pipe dreaming.

Looks like Im going to have to get the crank polished and possibly run over sized bearings.

just wanted to take the space to document the feb07 starting point for this project.

I hate the wingless look but what are you gonna do when some one gives you cash for the wing your just going to replace in spring with something better? also a good pic of the muched fender!

My stunning stereo system at this time, one head unit and two speakers full of metal shavings from welding... DOHHH!!!

Ever wonder what would happen if you pass on comming traffic just a little too close?
Stupid people not paying attention!!
funny thing is though, the glass didnt brake just the housing.

It happened on the way to work, I was tired as hell and all I wanted was to finish my coffee. so other than my pulse rising a bit there wasn’t much of a reaction out of me. Basically I saw him cross the center line so I jumped 2 wheels on to the shoulder but it wasn’t enough room. Later I thought about it and freaked out a bit. If I would have been paying attention, that would have been a head on for sure.
