Talking Pics of my 96' WRX

Here is my member journal for my 1996 Subaru Impreza WRX that I bought when I got stationed here on Okinawa in May of 2009. At first I liked it, but now I love it! It is the best car I have ever owned. . I'm trying to stay here longer now, so this thing will be going through some changes.

Currently:

Below is the list of things I have done to it. Hope you like it!

Ver 3-6 STi type RA aluminum hood (paint matched soon)
Ver 5-6 Crystal Clear headlights
ver 1-4 STi Rear spoiler
Ver 3-4 Grill (temporary looking for Ver 6)
Ver 3-6 Red/white Taillights
Clear side markers

Interior/Audio:
STi shift **** with red stitching
Alpine Double DIN
Alpine Speakers
STi foot pedals (previous owner)

Suspension:
Cusco coilovers

Engine:
ARC BOV
HKS Legamax Exhaust (previous owner)

Wheels/ tires:

Spares STi gold 5 spokes/ Toyo tires

Future:
newer style shift boot, custom made for ver 1-3 interior to get rid of accordion style
Ver 6 grill (still looking)

thanks everyone! Yeah I've been researching bringing it with me, I've heard some scary stories about the customs center in Cali will just crush it if you haven't contacted a registered importer, and than make you dispose of it! Pretty sure it's not true, but I dunno California has some crazy laws so whatevs

Definitely check that out. If I'm not mistaken those laws are Federal and not unique to California. You will likely have to replace all the window glass, bumper supports front and rear, headlights, taillights, turn signals, the exhaust system etc etc etc to get the car to meet US regulations.

Much better to find out before you leave that your car can't get into the US than have your dreams literally crushed when you get home.

why would you have to replace things like turn signals and taillights?

im guessing because sometimes the lights from japan and other countries do not contain the reflector in the lights that CA wants you to have, i think that's why everyone wants the jdm lights because they look cleaner. thats my guess though haha

Thank You! If I can't bring this back. I'll probably buy an RS coupe and make it what I want.

well I haven't been on here in a while, car has some minor changes. I now have the sideskirts painted silver, pink stars badge, clear sidemarkers, and I'm not usually into audio, but my cd player was crap so I bought an Alpine double DIN and alpine speakers.

Moved pics to OP
