You need to put tires with a bigger sidewall on those 17's. That alone will help the wheel gap. What size tires are on there now, 35 series???

To answer your question about springs, the Tein s-tech will give you a large drop, but people are really happy with the Eibach, Prodrive, and Perrin springs also.
