Well we I did ! And I did it! 3 STi s and 1 evo 4, To get a perfect STi into the us you need to 1/2 cut it! Then you reassemble every part into a USDM Impreza shell ! I have seen them for $1500! You then have a STi 280hp that is perfectly LEGAL I have gone through all of the import hassle And will sell the car for what I have in it

$8000 you get everything!@ You can sell the left over door Glass Everything!
For less than the price of a Used WRX you can even pay a shop and have it for less!

There are over 1000 Hybrid swaps on civics alone out there {HASPORT} Is my source for that info! JDM subaru swaps are everywhere! If you install into USDM chassis they meet DOT NHSTA with the right tuning and using stock Cats they pass emissions!

A non USDM engine will always be illegal for street use, no matter what car you put it in and how well it passes emissions. Even putting a USDM engine from an older car into a newer car is illegal. You can't legally swap a 96 L engine into a 2003RS sedan for example. There are special ways to get around that like using it only as a show vehicle that sees less than 5000 miles a year IIRC.
