Its still nowhere near the same. Its just a little program, but the overall layout of win8 remains. And I hate it. I hate everything about it.

Considering XP was released late 2001 and started dying off.. what.. 2 years ago(?), I'm hoping 7 stays around just as long if the best they have is 8.

Times were different then. There are a bunch of 'legacy' systems that only run on XP architecture which is why it is still prevalent. Moving forward most major operating systems i.e Windows and Apple seem to be unifying their cores across the board so their is more integration between mobile devices and desktop. Which is why you see the App Store available on the Mac now, and that Windows 8 has adopted that horrendous tile configuration. Either way, I'm rambling, it must be the whiskey.
