What's the X for?
I was at the Sac raceway tonight and have a question. After a couple of runs, while I was moving my way up to the line from the burn box, the official made me stop for a second. Then he used the marker to put an X next to my number on the windshield and side window. So for that race and the race after, it shows my number then an X on the timeslip. What does the X mean? I didn't get a chance to ask any of the workers.

I figured it out. I looked at the time slip again and caught it. It turns out that the car I raced at that time had the same number as me. So they put an X next to my number to change it. That explains why there was confusion at the slip booth when I drove up after the other car. She gave him the white slip and me the yellow... but I won... she goes, "wait, which lane were you in? oh... I gave him the wrong one. I don't care. Let's hope he realizes that he lost and goes in to lane 1 or 2." lol... he must have cause he parked off to the side and I saw him looking hard at the time slip as I drove on by.
That race was my best time actually... 13.9 and change @ 96.4 mph. It was only my second time with the WRX at the track and so far, that was my fastest time ever. The second race I missed a shift and got a 14.1. The 4th race I totally screwed up and drove through the water box instead of around so my tires got wet and the official told me what I did wrong. I didn't even realize what he was talking about till I launched and lit up all 4 wheels. lol. So that screw up costed me a 2.4 60ft and 14.6 1/4 @ 97.8
I learned a lot tonight though and met some cool people with advice on how to launch. I also got to see how other Subies launch which really puts it into perspective. Practicing is going to be an issue cause I never do it on the streets. Oh well... we'll see... I might be going again next wed.
