The DB scale doesn't work the way you think. Every 3DB is twice as loud. The German ones are almost 4X as loud.

No, where did I say anything contrary to his point?

I was just suggesting some additional scientific data. When one thinks 113 vs. 118 and then compares a price tag that is more than double the 113db sound like a bargain since to the regular consumer 113 is *nearly* 118 (only 5db difference if you don't know about the logrythmic db scale). To the consumer one would expect double the DB rating for double the price.

Anyway Norcal, Socal, Reno....Bla Bla Bla

I know, I was just being dumb because of the content of the thread lol. You didn't catch my humor. I was poking fun of the fact that he implied that he of course knew that the db scale was logarithmic. I did capitalize Grammar for dramatic effect.

Anyway, this is now the worst thread ever.

I guess it is even more stupid to defend yourself on the internet ha ha. (I usually at least spell check before I post, I try to anyway because I am a horrible with spelling, I never read enough). I wasn't *really* trying to point out his grammar, I did it as a joke (that you missed obviously).

Let me put this terms you geeks can understand:

Assuming you have two noise sources(P1 & P2), and the P2 produces twice as much power as P1, the difference in dB is
10 log (P2/P1) = 10 log 2 = 3 dB.
