Also you can buy me a game for XBox 360 with your gift card, I already have Project Gotham 3, and Call of Duty 2, I heard GUN was suppose to be good, so just buy me that!!
okay, so this story was just too crazy to not tell.
so we have some local freelance writers who do pieces for us on local places, things to do, reviews, etc...
one of our writers wrote a piece for our Nov05 issue about things to do when your family comes to visit for the holidays. in the article he talks about taking the short drive to Tahoe to see the lake and various activities you can do up there.
well, then he submitted his article to our editor and she then forwarded it on to me for the piece. i went to one of the photo image sites i use (like Getty Images) to choose the artwork for the issue. i searched for some photos of some of the local places (including Tahoe) and chose a photo of a couple having lunch on a pier at Lake Tahoe and feeding some geese swimming below.
the photo just matched the piece well.
we went to press, and moved on to the next issue.
the writer got his copy the week they came back from the printer.
he flipped thru the issue and filed it with his stuff.
the writer's kids came up for Christmas and he showed them what he had been up to and was showing them some of his work. one of them noticed that one of the faces in the photo on his article was strikingly familar.
he called our office and i emailed the photographer.
the photographer replied and did not know who was in the photograph he had taken, but knew the location and timeframe of when he took the photo.
i forwarded on the details the photographer had sent to me to the writer and the writer called his son. the writer replied back. he knew who was in the photo. HIS SON!
in a bizarre twist of circumstances, the photo taken in May 2004, that happened to make it's way to a photo site, got chosen by me out of numerous other options and paired with an article written by the father of the guy in the photo.
crazy how things work!
just had to share.
that is all.

it wasn't even that i had just used it in the book but paired it with his dad's piece.
just sorta strange.
