Walking towards the office, I hear screaming. I look up and see a car backing straight up along Capitol and across 15th. The car, somehow, backs all the way across 15th without hitting another car. Still backing up, hops the curb across 15th, proceeds across the sidewalk, onto the grass into Capitol Park, and backs right into a tree. This whole time, a middle-aged woman is frantically screaming, running into traffic trying to catch the car. CHP was camped out nearby and, as I got closer, I hear her tell the officer, "I don't know. The car just started rolling backward and sped up. I swear I put it in 'park'." CHP goes, "Well, now it's in the park."
