Tell me if you guys see the irony here...

My instructor this morning in my Ethics class said that on Friday he would be handing out a questionnaire (sp?) that his department puts out. It's an assessment on the instructor and the class. The instructor said that he would be grading our answers and if we received an 'A' that he would use that grade to replace our lowest quiz score of the semester. He stated specifically that he wanted us to get A's because an A score meant he would look good to the department heads.

I pointed out that these types of things are usually done anonymously to ensure the integrity of the answers, however he disagreed saying that if we knew there were no grade that we would give false answers and potentially make him look bad.

So what do I do? I'd like to get the "A" because I've missed a quiz or two (I missed some class when I got married), but I want to answer honestly because I do not think he has done a very good job instructing the class. In addition, this is an Ethics course, so I feel it would be pretty horrible of me to effectively take a bribe to make this instructor look good.

I do not like this instructor.

I'd just answer honestly. If the decision is between getting an A and a B, just take the B. After you graduate, no one will care that you got a B in an ethics class (even if you really passed by telling the truth).

+1

Sounds oddly suspicious for an Ethics class.

yeah I'm gonna answer honestly. Then when the anonymous one comes around I'm going to burn him up on that one (Sac state does their own assessment).
