Thumbs down wednesday from pasa robles.... *boo*

work emergency trip...
spent the last 2 days in fort ord in monterey and we got a call for more work in someplace south of this glorified truckstop called pasa robles...
what a worthless place...

but the hotel has DSL! and it's 1:40am and i'm still winding down from the drive here...

i have got to say Hwy1 from Monterey south is beautiful!
even though it was all by highbeam...i think if it was daylight i would have freaked on the few narrow spots & wouldn't have gone as fast.
that road is awesome!!!
just me and God...and the occasional truck or minivan to pass....
except for the rallystyle bumps where there were recent mud slides...
would love to learn this road....some of the turns would be a blast if you could antisipate some of the exits!

someone forgot to tell me there is NO gas south of monterey area...
i almost ran out but found the ONLY place with pumps on on hwy1 at 11:30pm...
they know it too...$3.79/gal!!!!! 91 was $3.99/gal (only non-turbo plus)

the OBS handeled extremely well for being all stock...and a gutless EJ22!
making me jones for new goodies...
suspension has to come first! then some brakes!!!
don't know if it's the ABS or if it's just sucky brakes but it didn't inspire confedence when trying to bring it down quick...
i'm sure something snail powered will be on the horizon soon...2.2l is less than inspiring

hopefully an upgrade to all disc & maybe just bigger WRX caliper/rotors will help for now....

okay...as you can see i'm bored...

i even bought some cheap PC game to pass the time lastnight...Lord of the Relms III...
somewhat entertaining...decent time kill....

okay time for sleep...have 7+ hours of driving ahead of me in a few hours...

i just wanted to beat scott to the daily thread....even if it's cheating!

If you can find a resturaunt called Hoovers down there, go there! I went there a few years ago during a family trip. The resturaunt is located on a cattle ranch and they have the biggest servings I have ever seen. We went there for breakfast, I ordered a short stack of pancakes and an omelette (standard breakfast for me). Anyway the pancakes were each about an inch thick and 10 inches in diameter and the omelette was probably made with 6+ eggs. My parents ordered steak and eggs and the steak came cut in half on 2 plates because it was so big, I'm talking 24oz. porterhouse proportions! Best breakfast I've ever had, period.

If you can find it and bring an appetite.

Try spending a couple weeks in Tule Lake or Dorris (Siskiyou County) or even Avenal/Coalinga. Paso Robles will seem like a haven.

Justin, I've got another set of calipers, calm down. You never said anything after I gave you a price, didn't know what the deal was. I've still got the setup off the front of the wagon going to you, you just need to communicate.

Aaron, I've got your hookup; as soon as I swap my brakes I'll get you my stoptech front rotors, calipers, and whatever you need for the rear swap.

My fiance and I love going to Fort Bragg, and half the fun of going there is that I get to spend one or two hours driving up and down hwy 1 each time we go .

And the other half of the fun of going there is the drive to and from and Hwy 20

Shouldn't affect ABS.
