Oh, that's right. The solstice was yesterday wasn't it. So now it's up a minute later everyday.
Speaking of that. The sun rises super early on the east coast. Like, 40 minutes earlier than here. Made it hard to sleep in.

Not entirely sure what you are saying here but you're smart enough to realize if we set our clocks on PST year round the sun would rise an hour earlier than it does now in the summer. And if we set our clocks to PDT year round the sun would rise an hour later in the winter.
But if you are just referring to the designations we give to time than yes it is arbitrary. However considering my job expects me to show up based on that arbitrary time definition I'm forced to use it.
