Yeah I need to flip our ceiling fans. We run them year-round, just in the proper direction for the season. Ours our still churning air UP, but I need to wipe down the leading edges of the blades to make sure they don't "make it rain" cat hair when I change directions :\

yuck. i never really flip mine.

i noticed that since we replaced the HVAC with new uber-efficient stuff last may, i've been saving about $60 a month in the winter and $50ish in the summer months. and that's with the addition of a garage fridge vs. last year when we didn't have it.

and it stays on when it's over 100, which is nice.

i shaved off about 35 a month using $60 worth of ikea CFLs for almost every light in the house sans bathrooms

damn. i'd do that but i've got dimmers in the dining room, bathrooms, and every ceiling fan. pretty much all lights are off during the day, and when we're home we just open all the shutters / curtains / blinds. what kills my electricity bill is the 1hp pool pump running 4 to 6 hours a day.

we've replaced EVERY major appliance over the past two years, went high efficiency on everything (cept the garage fridge).
