transmission question for you smart people

are impreza gears made from the same materials and made with the same process as wrx gears?

They are not the same in design.

across most years, I think they're the same materials.

Yeah, well the biggest factor to strength in gears is tooth design, gear design, and shaft length. Ratios are pretty important too. Materials and manufacturing process, not so much. Some say cry-o treatment and micropolishing makes a difference, but I've seen enough examples of that proven wrong or not a significant enough a difference to doubt it very much.

thank you sir, thats all i needed to know.

vlad, i know all the different types of gears and treaments and blah blah. i was just asking cuz i was curious. not building a big project or anything. just researching some stuff at work and made me think of that so i thought i'd ask. thank you for your reply though
