If I may, I'd like to add something to the Heim joint/urethane bushing debate: rod end spherical bearing seals

This may help reduce, but might not eliminate the problem of grit finding it's way into your Heim joints (can't say for sure, I've never owned anything with a Heim joint in it).

 

It does help, but again I ask why one should add expense to a part just to make it (hopefully) last as long as another part?
