Thunderstorm last night [pic]

Grabbed a nice photo of the lightning last night in Oroville

There are some hot pixels I need to get rid of (the small dots you see) but those will be gone once I run Noise Ninja in PS...

Lighting is soo awesome. We couldn't see the strikes or hear the thunder, but the flashes lit up our bedroom last night.

That's pretty sweet. I got one last year in of a small storm. I used a push-me-stupid without a tripod. It took about 50 shots.

Try shooting longer exposures with higher apertures

Very nice shot! We saw some lightning down around our area last night (Marysville-ish).

@jdepould
I tried a coupla different exposure settings, all the way up to about 30 sec exposure. I have never shot lightning before so I was just trying diff settings.

@ sonicsuby
Unfortunatly that is where I live at the moment (for the past year and a half) but on tuesday I am moving up to Portland :banana:

Thanks everyone!

The picture turned out well, don't get me wrong! Did you try the bulb setting? That's what I've been using to shoot fireworks, same idea. Just set the focus for infinity and aperture to f/8 or more and see what turns out. That's how they get the shots with like . . . 5 bolts of lightning.

That i'll have to try, after I get the remote for the camera, major PITA to stand there with your finger on the shutter release without vibrating the camera...
