we had a software company in here trying to sell us a program that analyzes our designs, capabilities of fab shops, labor rates, and material prices to try to give us "real time cost estimates" while we work.

they had this real spiffy demo with a packing tape dispener they bought at home depot, modeled up, and ran a cost analysis with it being manufactured in china and some crap.

i asked how their calculated cost compared to what they paid.















the guy told me that wasn't really a fair comparison...
