so what if there was some sort of life on there? And what if one of our "future space missions" made contact. We have always portrayed extraterrestrial beings as these extremely intelligent and complex beings.....but what would that mean if we were the first to make contact....that'd be sad if we were the smartest thing out there

Yeah, the only worthwhile comment made in the movie Contact - If we are the only ones out there, it sure seems like a giant waste of space.

Actually, no it doesn't. Discovery of extraterretrial life would not create any further conflicts with current western religious teachngs.
