Gin has a very distinct flavor (some people call it pine, probably because it is based off the juniper berry, which is a bush in the pine family). So, that's why if you can't pick it out, you need your alcohol card pulled

And gin is possibly the only alcohol worth drinking All others taste like crap in comparison.

Actually I don't mind good whiskey (meaning, no Canadian whiskey).

But I'm convinced rum is for chick drinks and nothing else. I've never seen anyone ever clamoring to drink rum straight up.

So how do you know what Gin is supposed to taste like if you've never really had it. Like Nick said, Gin has a pine/botanical flavor to it, which is very distinct.

If you're not going to appreciate that Seagrams, I'll take it. As for the Guiness. I'm not a fan of dark beers that taste like burnt coffee.

No way! Tequilla (not Cuervo ) and vodka are great for drinking straight up. I really only like Gin in the winter. One of my favorite things is going to Tahoe in the winter and having a Gin and Collins out in the snow. I try to duplicate that at home in the winter but it isn't usually cold enough :\

I know EXACTLY what you mean. When we rented a house, I would keep my tanq. in the snow outside my window. That was fun.

Vodka has no flavor. I can't say I like or dislike something that I can't even taste.

And flavored vodkas are pretty nasty too :P

If there really was an Alcohol Council, they would ban you from drinking forever for some of the comments you've made. You don't buy vodkas like Kettle one and Grey Goose to take shots of and get hammered off of... You buy those to mix in a martini, or something of the like, or just straight up. They're meant to be enjoyed. You're right about the vladi though, for $10 a handle, there's nothing better than rubbing alcoho- I mean cheap "vodka" to do the trick.
