Valid request. On a different topic. what nights are the EG meets these days?

 

They're still Mondays, but as the Saturday meets have, they've dropped off a bit. We generally wit for a critical mass and arrange it in the days prior so we can get a decent group out there; it's summer, people are busy, have family stuff, etc, and a lot of the regulars (Ed, Dave, Rich, Deede, and myself, among others) have moved way out of the area....

I think meets will be a little less formal/regular for a while unitl the weather cools down and stuff slows down a bit.

The 420ex would prolly work for now, but I wouldn't invest in the mounting equipment at this point (unless I was gonna make some money for doing it). If I were going to try this I'd prolly just have someone drive the camera car while I take shots out the back.

John (GT35 STI) has some really nice moving vehicle shots, don't remember the link though.

 

well all you really need is just a mounting bracket and just put the camera on sports mode and use the remote. and snap away. i'd recommend using the prime lens for those kinda shots.

sports mod would have to high of a shutter speed to get the amount of background blur he would want.

the 50mm f/1.8

you may have to distance yourself with the other car as 50mm is a tad bit of a zoom. but it makes one hell of a sharp image. use it w/ the lens hood. dont bother w/ the flash and if possible set it for 800-1600 iso setting. its not as crisp, but damn fast quick images.

 

ok correction. set the camera on Av (aperture priority) mode. set it at f/1.8. use iso settings 400-1000 depending on the time of day (higher number for lower lighting conditions). set it for AI Servo for continuous focusing. dont forget the burst mode setting. and snap away.
