STI gauge cluster in my 06?

How difficult would it be to put an STI gauge cluster in my 06 wrx? the green color is fugly & the red would look much nicer plus the 160mph speedo... is it a plug & play thing or is there more involved?

there was a few things involved when you did this switch on a bugeye and a 04 STi cluster. I am not sure if much has been changed, but you might want to take a look in the tech sections for more info

Some things are different. The STi gets the DCCD stuff and intercooler sprayer tank low warning. Do WRX's have the shiftlight and beeper? What about the rear diff temp sensor? Outdoor temp is also on the STi cluster. I think the WRX guys have it up in the mirror. Not sure though.

My temp is on the cluster near the fuel level, no shiftlight, no diff temp.... man you sti guys get all the cool stuff :-P mainly i want the color and the speedo so maybe ill just get a new color inlay & get a digital speedo or something..... or maybe ill just put a 10" autometer speedo on my dash with a 3" shift light and use a red sharpie on my gauge cluster....

IIRC some of the warning lights for the rear diff and intercooler will light up, so people were covering them up.

The shiftlight works, as thats a cluster function. The outdoor temp will not work standard, but from what I remember, you can get a probe from a STi and hook that up and it will function.

When I'm doing 160 most of my attention is focused passed the hood of the car.
But the red LED backlit face is nice. Then you'll have to change everything else in the car to match.

Can the light bulb just be switched out for red, or is the actual cluster green tinted?

red lighting is used in airplanes because it doesnt constrict the pupil. could be why its used in a lot of guage clusters as well. dont believe me? try it out.

Red is the best for nightime vision. Your eyes are most sensitive to green. Blue is the worst because it scatters.
