I want to do wood floors in our house too, but Josey wants tile and I'll be happy with it so that will work. We will end up doing the tile as a walkway from the front door to the kitchen, the whole kitchen and dining area, the hallway that connects the bedrooms, and then each bathroom and the laundry room. Then new carpet throughout

I just want to get rid of all wall to wall carpets except bedrooms and pergo the whole house. I'll put area rugs in the places we usually are. I just hate cleaning up after the occasional animal potty mistake...

we are women... shouldn't we be talking about cars or something?

But we're talking about modifying our homes for better efficiency. That's still pretty manly.

my parents house is 100% tile and their power bills in the summer are amazingly low.

my carpet was nice and new back in the early 80's. it's waaay past it's prime.

I wouldn't reccomend Pergo. It sun fades after two years, and it damages really easilly. If you're going to do anything, go all the way and get real hardwood floors.

actually, I didn't actually mean pergo. Just a generic term for laminate flooring. I was looking at this bamboo flooring, too that looked pretty cool.

that's why they give you a 25 year warranty. It all comes down to how well you maintain the floors.

Laminate is cheaper and it's easier to do yourself. It can also be quieter if you use the sound deadening material underneath. I did a small 1000 sq. ft. house with it a few years back.

i've also heard bad things about pergo. according to a co-worker who installed some in his daughters house, it expands and contracts quite a bit depending on temp and likes to buckle around doorways when that happens.

oh, and ms paint strikes again.
