Software Recommendations
I need some software to convert AVI o MPEG or WMV. I also need something to compress and edit the resulting file.
I found a "free" converter on the intarnet, but it only converts 1/2 the file unless you pay for the full version. Plus it took a 386Mb avi file and made it a 6Gb wmv file.
I also tried to use MovieMaker, but it won't import the avi.
Any suggestions?

I use Vegas by Sonic Foundry. Others prefer Adobe Premier. Umm... you can download these....um archives.

Want to borrow my copy of Ulead?
Also, try out the Windows Media Encoder. Its the ORIGINAL .wmv conversion utility, made by microsoft. It works better than anything for converting to .wmv. And, its free! (on the microsoft website... let me try to find it)

What's Ulead? Is that an editing program?

Ya ulead is some editing program that came with my firewire card... its actually pretty good. Easy to edit with, and easy to export in .wmv or other formats. A TON easier than premiere of course, but not nearly as professional.
