So I went to Boise

For the day this past weekend and it was awesome. I went just to see what all the fuss was about and to look at the houses. I remember when some of you said, "it's Boise" awhile back and I thought the same thing. If it wasn't for the fact I’m established with business in California I would have packed-up that night and moved there in a heart beat.

Three story house at 3100sq ft on an 1.2acres right on a fishable stream for 320,000 just on the outskirts. In the actual city you’re looking at chump change for your average SFR. Probably equal to what some of you pay for a small apartment here in Sacramento. I also noticed that every place there is like an elk grove or greenhaven. Here in Sacramento you're never 5 minutes away from the ghetto. Why on earth do you think Sacramento blows for car insurance?

The air is clean, a traffic jam is 5 minutes at 45mph, the job market is hot, the people are nice, you can still enjoy the outdoors there, there seems to be more to do there than Sacramento, and best of all it's not Kalifornia. The quality of living seems so much nicer there because you can actually afford to live.

Just saying... leave here before it's too late! Especially those that cannot afford it here anymore and are single. You'll be established in no time there.

Salty, that's good to hear that there is hope outside of CA. Property prices back home (MD) are skyrocketing just like the outskirts of Sac have been recently. One day, I will actually be able to afford buying a house. One day...

I did on a 1700sq ft house with a purchase price of $150,000 (would have been 425-500k here). Figure i'll keep her for about 5 years so I'm doing her at a 5/1 fixed IO (25ARM). Payment is literally the size of a car payment and i'll have renters in no time to take the tab.
