So I had to gently swerve to miss a rock today

I was driving the speed limit on a long straight section of 80 Westbound and there was a rock in the middle of my lane. So I gently swerved around it and continued on my way.

FWIW, it was in the second lane from the left around Northgate and I reported it to the CHP.

How big was the damn rock?
Was it big enough to cause damage to your undercarriage or damage to your bumper?

Probably the size of a softball. Either way I had no intention of running over it. With my luck a pebble would do some serious damage to my car if I hit it...

Glad you didn't loose control and flip your car 3 times.

Rocks in the middle of the road are dangerous.

There must not have been any nitrogen involved.

So, wait. You gently swerved, while traveling at the speed limit and you didn't slide out of control and flip your car down the highway? Please tell us how this outcome is possible. I was led to believe that a gentle swerve above 50mph meant certain doom

and you thought I was an e-thug...
haha

EDIT: Oh and the reason why DZ didn't crash and burn was because he didn't get his oil change/tire rotation at Jiffy lube.

What's the non-emergency number for the CHP and Sheriff? I want to report a bunch of modded ricers in the Natomas Raley's parking lot every Saturday at 6pm.

Approve of what? The fact that I am able to safely avoid road hazards?

Everything I said is 100% true, right down to reporting the rock to the CHP. Hopefully everyone else was able to avoid it as well and not do any damage to themselves or their vehicles.

Thanks for the heads up but CHP probably already cleared this for us.. Glad nobody was next to you so this could be done safely.

I too had a close call the other day, but it was a dead deer on Highway 80. Had to pull a lane 2 - lane 1 change at 65mph on a bend. Of course as I enter the #1 lane I proceed to be pelted with rocks now the hole front of my car is toast (kinda has been thou) all because I didn't want to wash guts of the side of my car.
