so anyone want to help me install my wing?
dammit i'm scared to drill those holes in my hatch lid!
woulda helped if the wing had come with a useable template and bolts that actually fit!
maybe i'll just use double-sided tape!

i installed a legacy wing onto my wingless L. really easy. even my dumb *** did it. what i did was use a really wide peice of wax paper and put holes in the wax paper where the bolts are for the spoiler. remember, you have to get a cable through the trunk as well for the light. once you find out where you want to put the holes, tape down your wax paper with masking tape so it doesnt hurt the paint or leave a residue. i also advise putting down tape where you are drilling right on the paint so it doesnt curl out and stuff. then, you drill. i had to do some dremeling of the underside of the trunk to be able to fit the nuts onto the bolts. to seal the wing so water and **** doesnt get in i cut up peices of an innertube and used some silicone crap. all pretty basic stuff.

well the damn thing is on, but i really messed up on this one. got the bolts to fit on the sides, but since i drilled all the holes wrong TWICE, they don't fit straight. right now i'm wondering if i should just drill new holes into the wing itself, or consider getting a new hatch lid cause i'm not entirely certain how many more holes i can drill into this one. i guess i could JB weld the other holes.
all of this is a moot point though, cause my damn hatch won't open all the way now without crunching the wing itself. either i installed it too high, or the damn thing just wasn't made correctly. since i mounted it as far back as i could without it actually mounting on the glass, i'm just not sure.
at least it looks good where it is...

Crap, man. I wasn't home until late last night.
I don't have the templates anymore, but there's something not right if you can't open the hatch. My wing sits right at the front edge of the hatch and clears the rear bodywork....
Was this an OEM piece, or the one sold on ebay, with a picture of a blue L wagon?
