It looks like I might be able to make my first Saturday meet today and finally meet a few of you good folks and check out some rides.

bagh! at the office again.

has been a LOOOONGGGGG week....
been at the office from 8am to at least midnight EVERY NIGHT this week...as late as 3AM lastnight...then back the next day.
and it doesn't look like i'll be out until at least that late tonight....


press week is hectic, but i'm loving it!...wouldn't be here if i didn't.....
at least i'll get a week off as soon as this is all done!

i'll pop in throughout the day when i'm trying to give my brain a break.

Yay, it's so fun when servers die.

And they're in Colorado.

And there's no remote console access so you can't see if there is a network failure or if it's really down.

 

I'm not sure what kind of server you're trying to access, but can you ping it? If not can you ping any other servers on that subnet? If not, do a Trace Route to see where the network failure is. If you can ping the server, do you have a port scanner you can use to see if the appropriate ports respond (eg: FTP 21, Web 80, etc...)

Forgive me if I am insulting your intelligence with these questions. I don't really know what you do...

 

Nah, we figured it out. A guy in my group who is based in CO brought the server down without maintenance. Or a change record. Or notifying anyone.

I work as a UNIX sys admin

 

On Fridays they all him "Slick *****" if that gives you a hint.

 

Oh, that's right, I remember we had a similar conversation a while back. I can barely remember what happened yesterday, much less a month or two ago...

My work has very similar problems with change control...

im thinkin bout rollin out to the meet tonight. and if i go i cant decide which ride i wanna take. the suby is FILTHY dirty and needs me to install those new brake pads. but thats a pretty long ride on the gixxer, although riding out to the track wasnt too bad. dunno, we'll see
