There is a line that John crossed. It wasn't a 'harmless funny'. it was x-rated and against the policy here.

None of the Staff Members have the ability to troll a member. That privelage is reserved for Site Admins. They don't troll people on a whim. Obviously they have been watching and decided they had had enough.

It's the same thing that happened with AliG and dahveed.
