Santacon here in Sac?
Hey, don't know if you guys (and girls) like to drink a lot, and this doesnt have to do with suby's... but this should be good times. Check it:
Listen up Santa:
Are you interesting in visiting exciting new places, exotic cultures,
and spreading the Christmas cheer to those who need it most?
Does starting yet another Santacon at Zeitgeist and following the same
old path around the Mission leave you longing for the glorious
Santacons of yesteryear? You know, back when Santa got
aboard the sled and flew to Portland, Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Seattle, and Vancouver? Any of that sound vaguely familiar, Santa? How about the crowds last year's SF Santacon? Did you find it at all frustrating that you couldn't even get into a bar, much less close to buying a drink?
It's time to get back to basics and leave town. And more importantly,
get out of town on the cheap so you have money left over for the bar.
There is such a place, Santa, and it's a merry land called Sacramento.
Yes, our beloved state capitol has never hosted a Santacon. And it
has a wide array of Santa Friendly (tm) activities, all within easy
walking distance of the train. Oh Santa! The train ride will be your
first as well. Doesn't that sound exciting?!? We'll be serving
drinks and appetizers to our fellow Amtrak passengers upon departure
from Oakland's Jack London Square, getting our exercise with a few
drunken laps around Sac's charming outdoor ice rink, taking in some
drinks and faux history in nearby Old Town, and participating in some
old fashioned merry making culture jamming.
I know, you're concerned about leaving all your friends behind who are
all committed to another year in SF. Don't worry, Santa, this is a
day trip that returns from Sacrmento in the early evening, at 7:40pm,
with plenty of time for your nighttime plans. You can even catch a
quick nap on the ride home.
WHERE AND WHEN:
Oakland-Jack London Square
Meet at Heinhold's First and Last Chance Saloon 56 Jack London Square,
Oakland
10:00AM meet at the bar. If they're closed, we've got our own drinks.
Train for Sac leaves at 10:55am from the Jack London Square Amtrak
Station. $17 each way. The station is located at the corner of
Embarcadero and Alice in Oakland.
It's a two hour ride up, so we'll be on the ground at 1pm. The return
train is at 5:40pm, though we can be flexible on the return time. Two
hour return trip.
Come on, Santa, you know the glorious Red and White needs that special
new experience. Get on board the train to Sac and make history.
