San Jose Grand Prix

Just got back. We got in on thursday night. Stayed at race headquaters aka The Fairmont. Had a kick *** suite with three giant windows looking down on the action from the 12th floor. OMG those cars are ficken fast and loud. Afterfire after every shift down the straights echoed like crazy between the buildings.

The drivers didn't really care too much about playing dukes of hazzard over the light rail tracks. They will have to fix that next year if it comes back.

100,00 total attendance was predicted. They got over 150,000. Woohoo. We need more stuf like this.

We saw cars from Champ, Toyota Atlantic, Historic Stock Cars, Touring Cars, Trans-Am, and Formula D.

There was a special Champ car that had a passenger seat to give scare rides to VIPs. Yes please.

Photos to come.

Sorry. I just got everything off of the camera.

I didn't ride in the car. But Mr. Roadshow of the SJ Merc News did. maybe his peice is online.

We watched from both the grandstands (gold1) and from the room. Both places had their advantages. Room service and AC where a big plus for the room.

A couple of the cars broke suspension push rods. The leading car had took the car apart the nigth before and put it all back together with as much new stuff as they could because they feared some things were fatigued from the previous testing days.

There was also a car with low oil pressure problems. They think the roughness of the track was bouncing the oil out of its proper tank or sump or something (not sure were it would have gone though).

A couple pics of the Toyota Atlantic Series action.

These guys are newer drivers. After they master these cars they go up to the Champ cars.

Since they aren't as good there was more wrecks.

Last pic is on one of the jumbo trons from an on board camera.
