Thanks T-Will.

It looks interesting, however I always appreciated BF1942 for the historical aspects of it and the pace of gameplay (read: I have iffy hand-eye coorditation, it was one of the few games I actually was good at playing).

Anyone still play BF1942 around here?

I played a lot of the Desert Combat mod...BF2 came through and improved upon it quite a bit IMHO.

I remember when the Desert Combat mod came out, hehe. Wasn't my cup 'o tea either, but I used to LOVE Battlefield Vietnam. Got out of it before BF2 hit the street.

BTW, you play for goodguys or badguys (Allied vs Axis, US vs VC, etc)?

I played for whichever team I was placed on in order to learn the vehicles/weapons of both sides. I hated it when people would switch teams just because they wanted to be a "good guy" or a "bad guy", it would make the teams uneven and wreck the gameplay.

I would get furious when half way through the game it would switch me to the losing side (to autobalance teams) just because I had been one of the top scorers in the round and helped my team get ahead. I would usually quit the game or try to switch back to my old team if that happened.

I hear ya on the 'autocomplete' rant. BTW, I usually played Axis on BF1942, and US on BFVietnam.

What ended it for me was when that "Punkbuster" thing popped up, and either I couldn't get in on a game, or I got kicked out of a game after 2min of playing because the internet cafe I went to didn't have certain privledges (or something like that). It wasn't like I was using some super-duper tricky hax0r or anything, I always played it straight-up. :shrugs:

Does that "Punkbuster" crap still jack-up games today? I honestly don't know.
