Are you just starting to look into LE or was it something you were already interested in? Do you have a degree BS/BA, is thier any particular your really looking into, such as traffic safety, field work, general law enforcement. In Sacramento and the surrounding areas thier are many departments that are always hiring.

It's kinda something that I've always been interested in, but am just starting to look into because I need more of a career job. I don't want to be doing, what I am now, for the rest of my life. I just turned 20 and am looking to take classes that have to do with the LE field...

Another thing the chp is always a paid academy, with the sheriff you have to hope the county approves a paid academy and then hope you get into it otherwise you end up having to pay it yourself. I'm not sure if chp is still taking open application right now.

yeah that was another thing I was looking at. everything is paid for with the CHP Acadamey, and if I am not mistaken, I would begin to receive pay once I got into the Academy....

If you do get into the chp academy, you can also save on food and housing since you stay at the academy, actually I think you can stay at either one. I am thinking by City police you meant Citris Heights, if you meant Sacpd then you need a bachelors to get into thier academy.

thank you... what I was planning on. I have a couple of good friends who I have yet to talk to since they've moved back, that are in the CHP. I was planning on putting my name on the list or something for the Academy, because I know it would take a while, then getting some classes in and more personal trainning... that way when the open enrollment came back around, I'd be ready... but again, this is all a thought in the process that I would like to get as much info as I could before committing to it. It's kinda a big step of my life....

yeah, by City Police I did mean Citrus Heights or a neighboring city like Roseville, Folsom, or Roseville.... Something close by because I really like the Sacramento area....

If your interested in the sheriffs or just feel like trying affiliate academy(read paid) right now wth a deadline of Nov. 12. If your wondering why I'm so into this thing I just dropped out from getting my B.S. criminal justice, cause UOPHX was costing to much and the return when I became a sheriff would have been negative. $34hr vs. $18.18hr

That backwards if I went sheriff I would start at $18.18/hr. Staying a Surveyor I make $34.08/hr so $14000 more in tuition for college didnt make sense to me.
