remote turbo

Thought this was cool

"Most components under the hood of today's vehicles were not designed to operate at this temperature. In order to place a turbo in an already overcrowded engine compartment it is necessary to do a lot more than just make some room for the turbo itself.

By mounting the turbo remote under the vehicle, STS has eliminated the heat problem. A remote mounted turbo runs cooler, with no additional lag and requires no major modifications to your vehicle.

The basic systems provide ~5 psi of boost, but with additional tuning and turbo upgrades the systems can produce near 20 psi of boost."

How does a turbo under the car make it any more sleeper than a turbo under the hood?

Nope no real problems with the people that have this set up. Matter of fact it's one of the option I'm weighing. 400+whp at 5lbs. of boost. boost comes on at 2700rpm. The pipe going back into the intake has a volume less than an aps front mount and piping on the wrx.

Yeah, these systems have been around for years. For a "cheater" system, it's a pretty slick setup, and most guys running cars with these kind of setups aren't daily-driving them, if you get my drift.

It makes sense that it doesn't heat up, but I have to admit it looks really foreign. What's the downside of daily driving?

i would think that it would be prone to theft and damage from driving debris...
would be pretty lame to get a big-ol rock coming up and blowing off the waste gate or something else...

and the filter location is the lamest idea evAr!
