Rally Racing

Does anyone know how much the rally drivers and/or co-drivers make as far as salary....and how do you become a rally driver?

professional? depending on the driver, sometimes $750,000 a season upwards of $7mil a season.

Most rally drivers probably make barely enough to keep rallying. Its not a sport that is about the money.

It's about the skillz. I was watching it the other night on SPEED and was wondering, also, how they get started.

a lot start at the local level. Start driving or co-driving in local series and championship. Rally-x would be a good start, I think.

Work your way up, get sponsorship, compete more and more and more. Keep schmoozing and driving fast.

Sounds simple, doesn't it?

Yeah, uh, if you're not one of the oh... 15 guys on TV every rally... you barely get by. Like Nick said, it's about glory not money, until you're an international superstar like Loeb and Solberg.

most start when there like 8 and as teenagers they prove they can move on up. Solberg started driving for subaru when he was 21 i think, it migt be 22. all I know is he's 24 now.

That's almost as good as "sticking feathers in your *** doesn't make you a chicken."

true. It would be very awesome.

You'd have to start out at the local level though. Being a professional at the top level is very hard to do. There are thousands of people (maybe even tens of thousands) of people that are looking for 16 jobs.
