Painted Side Skirts
Is anyone here familiar with the painted side skirts sold at allsubaru.com? I'm trying to find out whether they painted over the rough surface of some stock skirts or sanded them first or just fabricated smooth imitations.
I'm trying to figure out if I should sand and paint the existing skirts myself, pay someone else to do it or just buy them already done. I don't have any experience painting car parts, but I've got a compressor and a virgin paint gun that I'm willing to figure out how to use.
Any suggestions? How did you do yours (if applicable...)?
Heres a link to this item in allsubaru's catalog:

I have them on my wagon, the ones from Allsubaru.com, they are very nice, not painted rough ones. They have to have been sanded and painted, and the color match is exact. I have a feeling that they are Subaru brand painted, like from the factory, and not aftermarket at all. I would've gotten charged up the wazoo for having them painted, and even though I have an aircompressor and paint sprayer, I'm not confident enough to spray them myself. Just get them man, they are good quality.
I would be pretty close to 100% sure that the allsubaru's sideskirts are factory parts.
If you try it yourself, it will be hard to match the color and they will chip because you won't have the flex agents in the paint like a professional shop would.
Just buy the skirts... or have yours painted by a shop.

It looks like they're only $225 + shipping so I think I'll just buy them instead of painting them myself... Thanks for the advice everyone!
